How to make job better: I think we need to do a couple of things to improve...
1. Eliminate job specific sign ups - determine how many slots you need for each time and have people sign up for a time, then put them where you need them for their time slot. They get their job when they sign in...eliminating the 'sign in' problem too.
2. Get categories involved - have each category take on one job that occurs in the weeks before the race - prime coordination, race course notifications, vendors, etc..you can also offer to do category jobs on race day (eg 4's are marshals - incentive to upgrade! lol).
Next Year: I'd like to see things not come down to last minute. If that means elite's don't race ...ok...but don't single us out for exclusion from the race....make it a stronger team effort. We've been able to rely on Barry/Aldene/Michael/etc too much so it has lost the 'team' feel....that and truly revise the handbook to make it more user friendly. Maybe create some online training tools/videos/etc that we can send to people. U dunno....seems that the race is getting bigger...maybe we need to parntner with another team to help with staffing. start recruitment earlier (incentives for early sign up, extra jobs). Eliminate one off check writing for race entry - just add it to the race reimbrusement schedule. If they don't qualify for race reimbursement in general then don't make Cats Hill a 'special' exception.
